Buying property and moving to Chester

Chester is a little city that punches well above its weight. It often scoops accolades as one of the best places to live in the UK, with good reason.

Renowned for its historical architecture, Roman walls and picturesque shopping ‘rows’ in the city centre, it’s also a city of cutting edge arts, innovative food and drink, and top class shopping — all within walking distance.

We have been Chester’s trusted estate agent for more than 30 years. If you’re thinking of buying property in Chester, let us be your guide.

Things to do in Chester

Chester wears its past on its sleeve. Once a Roman settlement, you can still see the city’s amphitheatre and get a view of the whole city walking its Roman walls. It also boasts beautiful tudor houses and shop buildings, with lots of hidden surprises for architecture buffs. Chester Cathedral offers a unique collection of historic mosaics, or a ‘Chester From A Height’ experience from the top its spire.

Nature abounds, from the large and popular Grosvenor Park in the centre of Chester, to the river Dee which cuts through the city. Grab a row boat, hop on a river cruise or simply enjoy a walk along the banks.

The award-winning Storyhouse is a must-see. The stylish building houses a theatre, cinema, library, restaurant and various arts spaces. It’s a creative hotspot with a packed programme for all ages, and brilliant family events.

Chester Zoo, located a short drive or bus ride from the city, is one of the largest in Europe boasting penguins, lions and elephants among its 35,000 animals. Don’t miss the free-flying bats and butterflies, or spotting tigers and warty pigs the Islands boat ride.

Racing has been taking place at The Roodee, Chester’s racecourse, since 1539, and Chester Races continues to be a big event in the local calendar.
