The availability of bungalows has greatly reduced in recent years as developers choose to build larger properties which will provide a more profitable return and are even demolishing bungalows to build larger properties on the plot to sell on for an increased profit.
This is causing a real problem for people wanting to downsize from their family home but are not willing to consider retirement apartments or sheltered accommodation, as the option of moving to a bungalow becomes more difficult and remote.

There is clearly a national shortage of bungalows and the Chester market place is no different. Statistics from On the Market and Rightmove support this:
Within the CH1 to CH4 there are just over 1,300 properties available (11th March 2016) and only 7% are BUNGALOWS.
Clearly there is a shortage of Bungalows for sale in the Chester market and this reflects the national property market. Therefore, unless the Housebuilder’s invest in bungalow construction or planners encourage the construction of more of these types of properties, then those wanting to downsize will have to consider alternative types of accommodation such as apartment living.
