What to expect at post-lockdown property viewings

With the UK government easing some stay-at-home measures this month, it has become possible for people to move home once more — and the property market has proven to be robust.

While a return to ‘business as usual’ might be further off, it’s good news for anyone looking to buy, sell or rent.

At Matthews we’ve been working hard to make the post-lockdown property viewings as safe and smooth as possible.

How are Matthews working to make clients safe?

Of course, the safety of all of our clients and staff is paramount. We’ve laid out our plans for a safe re-opening here. As well as introducing new shielding measures in our office and social distancing procedures, we’ve been equipping our team to work in the safest possible way.

What will property viewings look like?

Understandably, many are asking about how viewings will be carried out for the foreseeable future while lockdown measures remain in place.

Initial viewings can be done virtually. Many properties that are listed on Rightmove already have a ‘virtual viewing’ function in place, and we are working to extend this option.

Where in-person viewings do happen, we will provide thorough guidance to both the client and the vendor. This includes limiting the number of people able to view a house to one or two from the same household, advising potential buyers to wear masks, and agents remaining outside the property.
