How to make the most of virtual property viewings during lockdown

virtual property viewings are quickly becoming an essential way to keep house hunters engaged during the Coronavirus pandemic. They will no doubt have a lasting impact on the way in which we buy and sell homes in the future.

Searching for your dream home during lockdown is still possible, thanks to the latest 3D technology which creates a 360-degree tour of a property – making it appear as though you are physically walking through each room. Using your keyboard, mouse or finger on any smartphone or tablet, you are able to navigate your way through the property from any angle.

If you want to start or even continue your property search online, here are some ways you can make the most of virtual property viewings during lockdown so you are one step closer to finding your ideal home:

Study the floorplan

A floorplan will give you information on the size of the rooms, as well as giving a clear perspective of the layout of the property and how the space flows.  This will give you a better idea of whether or not the layout of the property meets your requirements before taking the virtual tour.

Location, location, location

Location is a critical factor when it comes to buying a house, so ensure you use this time to familiarise yourself with the location and its amenities such as shops, schools and transport links.  You can use the Google Maps Street View to take a virtual tour of the street, its neighbouring properties and the proximity to any main roads.

Create a property shortlist

Virtual tours are an ideal way to start your property search online so that you can develop a shortlist of properties that you wish to view in person once the lockdown restrictions are over.

Speak to our agents

Our staff are still working from home and available to answer any questions you might have about a property, so please don’t feel that just because you can’t meet with us in person that you can’t speak to someone who knows the property well.

There are obviously some aspects of a property that you simply can’t see (or feel) through a virtual viewing, such as sense of space, sound and even that ‘gut feeling’ you get when you first walk through the door, but they are certainly a great way to start your property search, or create a shortlist of properties you’d like to view in person when the lockdown restrictions are lifted.
